womanhood.

in 1950. At a tender age, he began taking summer courses in
ceramics and, then painting at the workshop Poto-Mitan led by
painters Tiga and Dorcély. Later, at the Athenaeum Studio Art,
he continued his apprenticeship under the supervision of
Emmanuel Pierre-Charles and Valentin Iviquel who quickly
became his friends .
In
1972, he emigrated to Montreal. In conjunction with its
activities as an artist, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts and a
Master of Art Studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal
(UQAM). In 2001, he exhibited his work at the 49th edition of
the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Venice.

Jacques Preval, enjoys exhibiting his art and has been
privileged to exhibit in places like Hong Kong, Paris, Venice,
Montreal, Toronto, New York, Miami, Boston, Port au Prince and

such as the esteemed fine art guide in Canada, known as the

Guerdy Jacques Preval, does not identify with any
particular painting style. Instead he believes that his
artistic style is the result of the freedom to be who he wants
to be at any given time. He agrees with French painter and
philosopher, Henri Matisse, who said that those who work with
preconceived styles, deliberately turn their backs on nature
and miss the truth.
